As victims of the recent terror attacks in Paris are mourned, our Jewish community joins the North American Jewish community in expressing great sadness and standing in solidarity with the 500,000-strong French Jewish community, the families and friends of the victims of the Charlie Hebdo shooting and the entire nation of France.

We are painfully aware that these callous and cowardly acts are not isolated incidents. Rather, they are the latest in a series of increasingly disturbing and violent attacks, including the 2012 Toulouse school shooting and multiple attacks during Operation Protective Edge last summer. These events have increased the security concerns of French Jewry and also led to a dramatic rise in immigration of French Jews to Israel.

In coordination with the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, the Service de protection de la communauté juive in France, Jewish Federations are working to ensure that local Jewish institutions, schools and synagogues as well as French Jewish citizens are protected from further attacks.

The Jewish Federations of North America has opened an emergency mailbox to raise funds to  help French Jews meet their increased security needs and to aid the victims' families as they recover from this tragedy.  To donate in support of these needs, click here.

You may also express your personal message of support to the Jews of France by adding your message to a collective condolence letter.  At this difficult time, we continue to affirm that we stand in solidarity with the 500,000-strong French Jewish community, the families and friends of the victims of the Charlie Hebdo shooting and the entire nation of France.
